Well I will certainly look forward to reading your text book, Joe.
Of course the Bedside Book is invaluable, and the Munro book. But they are 50+ and 70+ years old. Cross-ply tyres, monograde oils, asbestos brake linings and gaskets back then - so much has changed since. Our bikes are now 70 odd years old and I'm sure your book is taking this into account. We're lucky if all we have to do is an oilchange and pump the tyres up. Tracking down obsolete bearings, or finding someone who can still cast a white-metal main bearing? I'm open to learning new ways to tackle the old problems.
Cheers David

Well I never. Fyi, I started writing the book for myself because I found the books I had were basically copies of the bedside book. At going on 70 years young and having trained for 4 years as an aircraft engine mechanic, worked on aircooled piston engines, plus gas turbine engines for over 50 years, I think I know a few things about engines in general, and my 5 Sunbeams have opened my eyes somewhat. Mind you, I am still learning, and facebook has taught me a few things of late. I am a qualified motor mechanic as well. for the last 10 or so years I have been writing technical publications for our Airforce. That's where I got the idea to rewrite / modify the publications out there.
As for the Fellowship. Why do you think I am willing to pass on my knowledge gratis. There are those of us that just ride and pay someone to fix our bikes and cars etc. I find it gratifying to do most of the work myself. I hate computers, but we have to learn to live with the stupid things. As guys and girls of my age get older a lot if information will be lost. Paper books don't require batteries. I have done my book in .pdf format so people can print it to take it outside and read it to work, or for the younger folk use their tablet or phone.
I too would hate to see this website gone, let's hope it stays. I have used a couple of other sites, now lost and the information with them. Keep up the good work as long as you can.
    Cheers
    Joe

Your final sentence Joe agrees what I'm saying and doing to hopefully prevent losing this invaluable SOF Forum due to Deserters to Farcebook gossip.

I am concerned that I will loose all the information that I contributed on here regarding my S8 restoration if this site disappears. Currently I can find all three topics/blogs but don’t know how I can download them to save them outside this forum.
Is this possible please? If so, how do I do it?

Hello Pete, it also would be good to know if there is a better way but so far if I have wanted to follow some comments when working in my garage, I have had to do a page by page save - cursor on the page on screen then right click on mouse then save as and then save as a webpage file on a USB and then print - its very long way to do it as typically most technical threads are multiple pages.
